Jo Weil, a German actor whose photos are used by scammers without his knowledge
Jo Weil was born on August 29, 1977 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He is best known for playing Oliver Sabel in the German daily series “Verbotene Liebe”, broadcast on Das Erste, a role he took up again in 2020-2021 in “Verbotene Liebe: Next Generation”. He has since appeared in other German daily series.
His photos used in romance scams
Scammers found several photos of the German actor on the internet and used them to create fake profiles on dating sites and social networks. They then contacted women looking for love and did everything to seduce them.
It is not the first time scammers have used photos of German men: there is also Jan A Man, the soldier and fitness coach, or the actor and singer Jörn Schlönvoigt.
When the seduction works, they end up asking for financial help, usually with a sudden, temporary problem as an excuse. If the victim gives in and sends money, the scam has worked. See our page on romance scams and the list of photos used by scammers.
