Netflix is very popular nowadays. More and More phishing emails reach our emailboxes
There are more and more Netflix phishing attempts. Before going into the operating mode of these phishing attempts, let’s review what Netflix consists of.
Netflix is a service that offers movies and series on the internet. The company was created in 1997 in the United States but it was really developed internationally, first in 2010 in Canada, then in France in 2014.
Many of us now have a subscription to Netflix and this service is becoming increasingly popular. This subscription allows you to watch movies or series at any time of the day.
More and more phishing attempts as the streaming media company gains in popularity
The success of this company has also attracted the attention of internet scammers. Thus, some have developed phishing attempts by usurping the name of Netflix. The strategy is always the same. The crooks send millions of unwanted emails hoping that a interter user will be tricked.
Below is an example of a Netflix phishing attempt email. We find the transcription of the content of the phishing email below the image.
Note the absence of a nominative header (like “Dear Mr. Smith”), a request for referral to a third party site which will ask for your bank details.
Please don’t click on the link! Throw this kind of emails in the trash and go watch your favorite series on TV instead.
